Prop 40 - Oppose

Though I agree with the idea of taxing the ultra wealthy to help support the long term goals of the state, the actual taxes have no indication on where the incoming money would be going. Many who would benefit from this tax were actually left out of the conversation when this was occurring. If the proposition showed purpose in where the money would be earmarked and how it would benefit our society, I would easily say yes. This proposition lacks the proper wording for our state to see real benefit from an estimated $100 billion over 5 years.

Prop 39 - Oppose

This is a proposition that would create unnecessary obstacles for California voters. California already has a set way of issuing voter status, though of course some will always find a loophole. Whether Prop 39 passes or not, people will always work to find a way around the system. Since 2008, there have been only 71 instances where some form of election fraud has occurred with most being caught through the checks and balances already in place by the state. This proposition does not take into account those who have kept their maiden name, hyphenated, non-current addresses such as college students living away from home, or citizens who may not have the proper paperwork on hand to prove who they are such as elderly who may have misplaced such documents.
