Senior Support
With over 25% of the population in Norwalk over the age of 55, it is important to ensure that our Senior Citizens have access to the support they deserve. Many of our residents have lived in our city long enough to see the changes, ups and downs, and places come and go. They are the ones that best understand our history and what needs to be done.
One thing that can be said about our city is that we have well established programs to provide our Seniors with the support they may need. Whether it be Homemaking or Personal Care Services, Norwalk has had Senior support on the forefront. Along those lines, Norwalk is also home to over 20 Senior and Assisted Living Homes. Here though is where we can begin assess changes.
Developed specially tailored newsletters to our Seniors for a clearer understanding of upcoming events and opportunities.
A potential task force dedicated to the well-being of our citizens, providing them check-ins and in person updates in our community.
Continue building a sense of community for those who may be unable to attend events at the Senior Center by having city-sponsored events in their respective facilities/locations.
Overall, we need to make sure that we can provide equal opportunities and services to all Seniors, our most vulnerable citizens, as they will always be a valued member of our community.
